During the First World War, the inhabitants of the Ledro Valley, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, were evacuated to the inner regions of the Empire, particularly Bohemia and Moravia. The valley had become a battleground in 1915 with Italy’s entry into the war. The people of Ledro returned to the Ledro Valley between 1918 and 1919 to find their homes and villages destroyed by the war. In Bohemia, they made friendships that remain alive today thanks to the twinning agreement between the municipality of Ledro and the eight Czech municipalities of Příbram, Doksy, Milín, Všeň, Nový Knín, Buštěhrad, Chyňava, and Ptice. Each of these municipalities has a dedicated street, square or plaque.

Bike rides require specific clothing and equipment. Even on relatively short and easy outings, it's always better to be well equipped to avoid unpleasant surprises and to face unexpected events such as sudden storms or energy drops: even the unexpected is part of the fun!
Also, remember to carefully assess the type of route you are taking, the locations you plan to cross and the current season. Has it rained? Be careful! Trails will be more slippery and so you need to be more cautious.
